The Leadership Institute of Acadiana (LIA) has officially announced its Leadership Lafayette Class XXXVIII cohort for 2025, marking the program’s 38th year of shaping rising and established leaders across Acadiana. This year’s cohort consists of 36 leaders from diverse backgrounds in business, civic engagement, education, and non-profit sectors. Under the guidance of Program Co-Chairs Billy Hobbs (CEO of BWPR) and Torilyn Williams (BSA Manager of Home Bank, both members of Leadership Lafayette Class XXXVII), this select group will embark on a journey of leadership development, collaboration, and community impact.

About Leadership Lafayette

Leadership Lafayette is a program of the Leadership Institute of Acadiana (LIA), dedicated to developing emerging and established leaders who are committed to strengthening the Acadiana region. Through immersive experiences, professional development, and collaboration, participants gain insight into key issues facing the community while building meaningful connections with fellow leaders.

The program is led by Executive Director Katrena King, whose leadership continues to drive the success and impact of Leadership Lafayette. Under her guidance, participants engage in transformational learning experiences designed to foster innovative thinking, civic responsibility, and long-term leadership growth.

A Personal Milestone: Honored to Join Leadership Lafayette

I am incredibly honored to be selected for Leadership Lafayette Class XXXVIII and to have the opportunity to grow alongside such a talented and inspiring group of individuals. This prestigious program is dedicated to developing leaders who make a lasting impact in Acadiana, and I am excited to embark on this journey.

This opportunity is especially meaningful to me as a Black female attorney, a single mother of four, and a member of the Deaf community. Launching Gallien Law has been a journey of resilience, service, and unwavering dedication to advocacy. Through Leadership Lafayette, I look forward to further honing my leadership skills, strengthening my community ties, and contributing to initiatives that will positively shape our region.

Gratitude for the Support That Made This Possible

I am deeply grateful for the $1,000 scholarship and the generous sponsors who helped make my participation in this program a reality. A special thank you to Broussard David & Moreaux, Amos Law Firm, and Domengeaux Wright Roy & Edwards, LLC (Attorney Andrew J. Quackenbos) for your support. Your investment in me is an investment in the future of leadership, advocacy, and the continued growth of our Lafayette community.

Connecting with Fellow Leaders

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending our Leadership Lafayette orientation, where I met my incredible cohort, as well as our Class Chairs, Executive Director, and other Leadership Lafayette leaders. This is truly a remarkable group of inspiring individuals, each dedicated to making a difference in our community. I am honored to be part of this network of changemakers, and I look forward to learning and growing with them throughout the year.

What’s Next: Opening Retreat & Leadership Development

Next month, our journey continues with the Opening Retreat, where we will engage in leadership and team-building activities designed to challenge and strengthen our skills. I am eager to dive in, learn, collaborate, and continue evolving as a leader.

This is just the beginning of an exciting year ahead, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and insights along the way. Here’s to a year of growth, connection, and impact! 💙✨
