Celebrating 39: A Year of Growth, Legacy, and Impact
On February 9, 2025, I turn 39 years old, marking the beginning of my 40th year of life—a milestone that carries deep reflection, gratitude, and excitement for the future. As I close out my thirties, I am embracing this next chapter with intention, passion, and a commitment to making an even greater impact.
A Year of Milestones
This past year has been a transformative one, filled with professional growth, leadership opportunities, and new beginnings.
Some of the most defining moments include:
✅ Launching Gallien Law – A dream turned reality, dedicated to serving my community with compassion and advocacy. My firm’s name, Gallien Law, is a tribute to my late father and my mother, whose unwavering support and sacrifices provided a foundation for my success. Their legacy continues to inspire me every day.
✅ Completing Accelerate Northside – This program empowered me with tools, connections, and resources to further develop my business and community initiatives.
✅ Being Accepted into Leadership Lafayette (Class XXXVIII) – An incredible opportunity to grow alongside other leaders, serve my community, and shape the future of Acadiana.
✅ Joining the ‘She Has a Dream’ Program – As one of 12 Black women selected for this year-long business cohort, I am honored to be part of a network of driven women working toward transformative success.
✅ Mentoring Future Leaders – I am stepping into mentorship roles with both The 705 Program (for young professionals) and the SWBLSA Mentor Program (for law students). As someone who has been guided by incredible mentors like Attorney Valex Amos (Amos Law Firm), Attorney Dwazendra Smith (D. Smith Legal), and Attorney Marcus Allen (Law Offices of Marcus Allen, APLC), I am eager to pay it forward.
✅ Working on My Book: ‘Personal Injury – The Economic Impact of Abusive Relationships’ – This project is close to my heart, combining my legal expertise with real-life advocacy for survivors seeking justice.
✅ Serving as a Public Defender & Impacting Lafayette’s Youth – As a public defender, I have had the privilege of advocating for those who often feel unheard and unseen. My work has allowed me to fight for justice, provide second chances, and support the youth of Lafayette in navigating the legal system. Ensuring that young people—especially those from marginalized communities—have access to fair representation and guidance has been one of the most meaningful parts of my career. I remain committed to using my voice, legal knowledge, and mentorship to empower the next generation.
Honoring My Roots
This year has been one of profound personal reflection. Losing my father last year was a devastating loss, and I miss him deeply. Naming my firm Gallien Law was a way to honor his and my mother’s tireless dedication to our family of seven children. Their sacrifices and unwavering belief in me continue to fuel my journey.
Thriving in the Final Year of My Thirties
As a Black female attorney, a single mother of four, and a member of the Deaf community, my path has never been conventional. It has been shaped by resilience, faith, and an unshakable commitment to breaking barriers.
I became a single mother during undergrad at the age of 20. My oldest daughter, who also has special needs, inspired me to build a life dedicated to serving and supporting others facing challenges.
I have spent years working, building, and overcoming challenges—now, I am fully embracing this season of my life. I am committed to celebrating myself and life unapologetically and cherishing every moment. With joy, success, and gratitude, I welcome the beauty of the present. So, if you see me living it up, don’t hesitate to join me or cheer me on!
With this birthday, I am not just celebrating another year—I am celebrating legacy, leadership, and the limitless potential of the future.
Looking Ahead
As I prepare to step into my forties, my goal is simple: to make an even greater impact. Whether through my work in the legal field, community mentorship, business leadership, or storytelling, I am committed to inspiring change, uplifting others, and continuing to build something meaningful.
