Some experiences are hard to put into words—not because they aren’t worth sharing, but because they hold a depth that words can only attempt to capture. SIMSOC (Simulated Society) with Leadership Lafayette’s Great 38 was one of those experiences. Read more about Leadership On The Move’s (LOTM), Lura & Dick Hammond, and SIMSOC, which is a simulation of real life society.

While I can’t divulge everything that happened, I can say this: it was a day of collaboration, strategy, empathy, and deep connection.

This was our first full class day after the opening retreat, and what a way to step into this journey together! We laughed, we cried, we made tough decisions, and we strengthened bonds that were already forming. The experience tested us, but it also united us.

The Red Team: A Color of Strength, Power & Passion

I was honored to be part of Team Red, and as I reflect on the significance of that color, I see so many parallels to our experience. Red is bold. Red is strong. Red is powerful. It symbolizes the very traits we had to embrace throughout the day.

🔴 Courage & Strength – Like warriors, our team had to make strategic decisions and demonstrate resilience in uncertainty.

🔴 Life & Sacrifice – Leadership is about more than individual success; it’s about serving a greater purpose. The day revealed how interconnected we all are and the responsibility of leadership.

🔴 Caution & Reflection – Just as red signals “STOP” on traffic lights, our experience reminded us to pause and consider the impact of our actions—on our team, on our class, and the community we serve.

A Day That Strengthened Our Bonds

SIMSOC was an incredible experience. The trust we built during opening retreat deepened in ways none of us could have predicted.

If you ever get the opportunity to participate in SIMSOC, take it. It’s an experience that will challenge you, stretch you, and leave you with a greater appreciation for leadership and your society.

For The Great 38, this was just the beginning of a year that promises to shape us as leaders in profound ways. I’m grateful for this journey, my incredible classmates, and the lessons we are already learning together.

Signing off,

🔴 Team Red, always ready.
